Nowadays, it has become a trend to search for what really suits us, and this can put social pressure on us. In my case, my search for my life purpose was not driven by fashion, but by an urgency that I perceived inside me. And this happened more than 10 years ago, at a time when it was quite the opposite of a trend: I was confronted with a lot of misunderstanding, rejection and have been a lot criticised. I was rather standing alone in my conviction.
When I was discovering that part of my true vocation was in the Arts, and I asked my boss to work part time in order to pursue my music activities, my colleagues on the trading floor of the company I was working for made a lot of fun of me. However, it was my conviction that came from an inside urge, and my inner voice, clearer and stronger than the difficulties I might encounter, that guided me and prompted me to act.
So I encourage you to darken your surrounding, so you are not distracted by what you see or instagram or facebook, and have a glimpse inside. It can be incredible what you start to discover when you listen to yourself. It happened to me, and it could happen to you.
